This anthem video for a tech startup allowed us to shoot close to home in Hastings and Dobbs Ferry NY. The piece had to communicate how the app works, but more importantly, to convey an emotional connection. One of the bigger shots, a music festival of sorts, was staged at the local middle school parking lot. With about forty people dancing and milling around a pair of musicians, our star couple was scripted to kiss amidst the chaos. When she showed up for the shoot and her boyfriend didn’t (prior engagement), the job of kissing her fell upon, well, our key grip. She mustered the composure to do the shot; he told us he really loves his job. It looked convincing…
